CURRENT EMPLOYMENT
BACKGROUND
Darren joined local Perth band Friendly Beaver in 1994 whilst they were recruiting several new members and was responsible for increasing the professional attitude and outlook of the band, and developing it into a business. Along with fellow guitarist Rick Tonello, they renamed the band Mayhem and through persistence and determination the band grew in stature and was soon playing regular shows throughout WA.
During this time Darren was involved in production work with several local bands and developed his skills as a guitar technician and gained experience in the local entertainment industry as a sound engineer, DJ and general sound and lighting rigger. When the band broke up in 1997, Darren and Rod Thorp took the business on and concentrated solely on DJ and lighting work. However, over the years MMP have diversified into equipment hire and service and repairs.
Darren obtained his Shotfirer's Permit in 1997 continues to work as a display operator for Howard & Son's, working on both local and national events such as the 1998 World Swimming Championships, Big Day Out, Coca-Cola Redfest, Black Tack, the Crusty Demons and the Perth Skyworks. |
